The American public soundly rejects the Equal Rights Amendment

Why, then, did the Supreme Court continue to apply the 14th Amendment to women when this very court acknowledged that the original framers of this amendment never intended for that to happen, and when this very court never applied it to women themselves for more than a century?

In the spring of 1979, when the ERA was defeated 21-19, Pat Frank, a Democratic legislator from Tampa who is now a Hillsborough County commissioner, took the floor.

"Go home and tell your daughters what you did today," she said.

Today, she says: "Most of the boys in the Panhandle were against it. It was an insult to me personally and to any woman that they had respect for."

What was in the drinking water in the sewer by the Potomac that "354 to 24 in the House [94%], and 84 to 8 in the Senate [91%]" agreed with FOOLS AND IDIOTS like Pat Frank and adopted an amendment to the US Constitution that was so wildly unpopular, which failed miserably even after 7 years of vigorous campaigning by a radical minority of extremists (who the US news media supported 100%), and that the US Supreme Court imposed against the will of the people and contrary to two centuries' of their own precedents?

There are 17% more women voters than men voters in this country now, so a majority of women had to oppose it for it to fail so miserably.  What is it about US Congressmen that they're so out of touch with their own constituents, both men and women, that they'd waste billions of dollars in a futile attempt to trash the very Holy Bible which our Founding Forefathers so cherished?  Why do they all get to Washington and do exactly the opposite of what they promised their constituents hey would do when the votes were being counted, and of what the Holy Bible says that they placed their hands on when they took an oath?

After such a massive campaign, this failure raises serious questions about the truth about the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment, to give women the vote.   Would three quarters of the states, or three quarters of the American public, really have voted to trash God's Law like that?

Why does this powerless congress continue to fail to lynch in effigy the "supreme court" which imposed the Fourteenth Amendment on an unwilling public in a manner completely contrary to EVERYTHING on the planet?

Does congress no longer know what treason is?  Do they no longer know what their responsibilities are when an act of treason has been commited by the very folks who're PAID to prevent such things?  The Rosenbergs committed treason and congress made sure they were executed for it, but this act of treason caused a million times more damage than the Rosenbergs ever could have in their wildest imaginations, but has so far gotten off scot free.

SECTION 3.

Treason defined. Proof of. Punishment

1. Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying
war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and
comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the
testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in
open court.

Congress and the Supreme Court, by imposing such draconian laws which they know are against the will of the majority of we the people, were acting ONLY in a way as to give our "enemies ... aid and comfort".  They knew when they passed it that the 55 mile per hour speed limit wouldn't  save lives or oil--and that it only transferred our 70% market share of the world auto market to Japan.  They knew that when they imposed affirmative action on an unwilling public that it wouldn't benefit women or blacks--they knew that it would only make the rest of our industries so non-competitive that all of our consumer goods can now be made more cheaply in any third world country.  Similarly, they knew that the doubling  of the divorce rate would be the inevitable immediate reaction to the application of Reed v. Reed in 1971 and that it wouldn't benefit this country--they knew that it would benefit all of our enemies, and nobody else, up to and including Iraq, Iran, China, and even North Korea.

The initial pace of state legislative ratifications was rapid during 1972 and 1973, but then slowed considerably with only three ratifications during 1974, just one in 1975, none at all in 1976, and only one in 1977. The 92nd Congress, in proposing the ERA, had set a seven-year time limit for the Amendment's ratification, and by the end of that deadline on March 22, 1979, a total of 35 of the required 38 states had ratified it. Also, as of that date, four of those 35 states had subsequently adopted resolutions to rescind their earlier ratifications and a fifth state adopted a resolution declaring that its earlier approval of the ERA would not extend beyond March 22, 1979 (more on that below).

Thirty years ago this spring Congress passed the Equal Rights Amendment. The purpose of the ERA was to insure that women would not be unfairly discriminated against because of gender. The approval votes in Congress were strong--354 to 24 in the House, and 84 to 8 in the Senate. The proposed amendment was then sent to the 50 states for what many believed would be certain ratification. It never happened.

Before students look at why ERA failed to win ratification by the states, they will need a brief history and an update on where ERA stands today. The original deadline set by Congress for state ratification was March 1979. As that date approached, only 35 of the necessary 38 states had ratified, and more time was needed. Congress extended the state approval deadline to June 30, 1982. However, despite vigorous efforts by ERA supporters, when June 30, 1982 arrived, ERA was still three states short of being enacted into law.

ERA Update

Since1982, ERA has been reintroduced by every Congress. Each time the proposal has been placed in committee and no further action taken. The 107th Congress (2001-2002) has followed form by introducing a proposal titled: A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relative to equal rights for women and men. In the Senate, the chief sponsor is Sen. Edward Kennedy, D--Mass. The chief sponsor in the House of Representatives is Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D--N.Y. This 2001-2002 model of ERA currently sits in committee.

An interesting question that needs to be answered is whether the 35 state legislatures that ratified ERA some 25 years ago would have to go through the process all over again.

Supporters argue that simply getting the approval of three more states should be enough to ensure ratification today. However, this legal tussle may be just a quaint sidebar. Given the fact that ERA bills have languished in committee for the last 20 years, it is possible ERA will not receive serious consideration any time soon.

Liz Kates, an utter moron and Jezebel supreme, now has the brass to ask:

The gap is illustrated by a recent independent statewide poll sponsored by the Salt Lake Tribune, asking Utah voters whether they approved of the following language: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex."

The language was favored by nearly a two-to-one margin. Yet when asked whether they favor or oppose Utah's passing the "Equal Rights Amendment," many of the same voters who favored the equal rights language stated their opposition to ratifying the ERA.

Since the language quoted above is drawn directly from the text of the proposed Equal Rights Amendment, such conflicting responses to the two questions are not easy to reconcile.

There's nothing at all difficult about reconciling this.  It's because, Liz--people HATE you, and God HATES all of your Jezebel friends.

And every time you open your fat mouth, even more women HATE you, which is the only reason women who're 17% more of the American voters than men voted in such huge numbers to trash your ERA.

If you came out in support of laws against murder, people would most likely vote against those laws simply because they HATE you so much.
