Kinsmen according to the flesh And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, [and] with his seed after him. Gen 17:19 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen. Rom 9:3-5 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Gal 4:22-23 "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost, until he finds it? Luk 15:4 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Mat 15:24 These twelve Jesus sent out, charging them, "Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And preach as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Mat 10:5-7 In the red letter part of the Holy Bible, the part which was quoted directly from Jesus, John provides the following direct quotes from Jesus: Paul uses an allegory in Galatians 4:22-31 to claify who Jesus meant by "flesh" and who He meant by "spirit": All descendants of Abraham's son Ishmael were "born after the flesh". All descendants of Abraham's grandson Jacob (and only those descendants) are "the children of promise" or "spirit". "Flesh" and "spirit" are direct genetic references to two different races or seedlines of people. In this context at least, the word "spirit" has nothing to do with attitude or mindset or intellectual capacity and everything to do with the physical genetic descendants of Jacob. Similarly, in this context, the word "flesh" is not a reference to Israelites, but to Ishmaelites. Where judeochristians proclaim that genealogy [read: flesh] means nothing, Jesus said that it means everything. Where judeochristians proclaim that there are Israelites who are "fleshly" or "worldly", Jesus said that it was descendants of Ishmael who were "born after the flesh". Where judeochristians proclaim that all races can become "children of promise", Jesus said that only the descendants of Jacob [read: Israelites] can be. Where judeochristians proclaim that all races can be saved by "common salvation", Jesus's actual reply to the Canaanite women, a statement made for all to hear and understand, was:
In the following Scripture, the Greek word esthio, Strong's #2068, is translated 66 times as eat, eateth, eating, eaten, or devour Luk 5:33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise [the disciples] of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? Yet the Greek word trogo, Strong's #5176, is also translated as eateth in the following Scripture: Joh 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. If Christ had meant for anyone, Israelite or not, to actually "eateth my flesh", then He would have used the term esthio, not trogo. So what then could trogo, which appears only 6 times as eateth or eating, really mean for this Scripture to make sense? When Paul wrote "my kinsmen according to the flesh", he used the same Greek word sarx, Strong's 4561, that Christ used in John 6:54. How were they kinsmen by flesh? Were they cannibals? No. Was this some kind of dietary law? No. Does the following definition of sarx from Strong's Concordance include a translation that applies to this use of "kinsmen according to the flesh"? No. By implying that kindred means human nature, Strong's ignores Galatians 4:23 where sarx MUST be a reference to genealogy.
When translators and concordances like Strong's omitted such an important meaning of the word sarx from its translation, the real meaning of John 6:54 was lost and Christians had to struggle with the concept of being a cannibal for Christ. Of course Christ did not expect His followers to gnaw on his elbow, so trogo must mean a kinsman of his flesh just as Paul wrote, which in modern English would be:
Likewise, "drinketh my blood" has also been misconstrued, as the Greek word pino is used where, if it were meant to literally drink, the Greek word posis should have been used:
posis pos'-is From the alternate of G4095; a drinking (the act), that is, (concretely) a draught: - drink. Thus John 6:54 must have the following meaning:
Just as the English expression "drinking in the view" means only to experience or closely examine the view rather than to literally drink it, the Greek expression "drink my blood" means only to be of the same blood rather than to literally drink Christ's blood, even if only symbolically. The Hebrew word "basar" is translated as both "flesh" and "kin" Psa 102:5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.
