The following page was posted at http://www.stat.go.jp/156.htm in March 2000. According to this official publication from the Japanese government, at a rate of exchange of the yen at 110 per US dollar, the average Japanese working household had an income of $9,819 per month, or $117,834 per year, and a monthly savings of $5,040 or $60,480 per year. Although this page was removed, it was archived at http://web.archive.org/web/19990223223925/http://www.stat.go.jp/156.htm for some time, but now, on November 25, 2003, even this page is inaccessible, returning the error message "failed connection". Why are most other pages like this at www.archive.org accessible, but not this very revealing one?
