The Relationship of Non Marriage and Mortalilty Rates Divorce & Non Marriage Costs 1.3 Million EXTRA
American Lives Per Year
Divorce increases the death rate of a 35 year old male by 228% and of a 35 year old female by 70%. At age 60, the male increase is 88% and the female increase is 34%. At age 25, the male increase is 241% and the female increase is 117%. The fact that the increase in the male death rate resulting from divorce is more than 2 or 3 times higher than that for females of the same age is evidence of systemic discrimination against males. 3.7 million California men have been divorced since 1972, each of whom has suffered an
average 102% increase in their death rate. In 1998 it is estimated that 2.6 million of
them will still be alive and will die at an average rate of 12.5 deaths per 1,000 greater
than still-married men, which is 32,500 EXTRA deaths in 1998. Since the Family Law Act was
enacted, there have been an extra 422,500 deaths, half of which or 211,250 were due
directly to the enactment of the Family Law Act itself. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
