On October 20, millions of Christians will join together
in an historic Day of Prayer for Israel.

Dear Friend of Israel,

As tensions mount in the Middle East and the foes of Israel continue their campaign of terror, we turn to our Father in heaven and call upon Him for help and deliverance. In that spirit we invite you to join us in a nationwide Day of Prayer and Solidarity with the State of Israel on Sunday, October 20.

The Bible admonishes us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” (Psalm 122:6). With the very survival of Israel threatened, never has there been a more critical time for the church in the United States to stand for Israel.

Israel is confronting terrorism targeted at innocent civilians on a daily basis. Bombings continue relentlessly and terrorist groups that orchestrate these assaults show no signs of stopping; some militants even brag openly about when the next bombing will take place and hope for a high number of civilian causalities. The toll taken is immeasurable---countless attacks, economic devastation and over 600 innocent lives lost and thousands more wounded. As a percentage of Israel’s population, this would be equivalent to America losing 30,000 lives during the attacks of September 11.

This crisis is one of the greatest Israel has ever faced.

That is why we are asking you to join us in the Day of Prayer and Solidarity with Israel on Sunday, October 20th. Christians and Jews alike have an obligation and a calling to stand with the Jewish people in defending their historic homeland---a land that God gave to them as a fulfillment of His promise to Abraham.

That’s why your participation in the Day of Prayer and Solidarity is so important. Please take a moment to visit www.standforisrael.org and learn more about this special event. To better help you become involved in the “Day of Prayer and Solidarity,” our web site provides the Day of Prayer Action Kit---this includes Newsletter Graphics, Newsletter Copy, Prayer Promise form, Audio/Visual Presentation, and Sermon Notes. We offer these items as a way to help you promote this event in your church and community; each item can be easily downloaded either as a Word Document or PDF File.

Once you have downloaded the Action Kit, please take the time to share it with your pastor or church leader and ask that your church make October 20th an official day of prayer for Israel. Use the Graphics and Newsletter to promote the “Day of Prayer and Solidarity” in your local newspaper and church bulletin and share the Prayer Promise form and www.standforisrael.org with your friends, neighbors, and members of your congregation. If your church is unable to participate in the Day of Prayer, we ask that you become a volunteer and lead others to pray for Israel, either before or after your church service on October 20th.

The Bible teaches us to pray for Jerusalem and that those who bless Israel will themselves be blessed (Genesis 12:3). It is in that spirit that we deeply believe you can make a difference.
