tumah: mongrelization, not uncleanness Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness. Lev 18:19 (KJV) Of 37 occurrences of the Hebrew word tumah, it's translated as uncleanness 25 times, filthiness 7 times, unclean 4 times, and uncleanness once. But once you know that the word idol in the following Scripture is translated from the Hebrew word gullil which actually means mamzer, it becomes clear that at least one instance of this word tumah probably should have been translated as mongrelization:
The following is the only correct way to read this Scripture:
Is it at all possible that the uncleanness referred to in Leviticus 18:19 is mongrelization, and that the KJV and 19 other translators who translated tumah as her regular time, monthly period, disease, ritually unclean, menstrual impurity, menstrual uncleanness, or uncleanness are all wrong? The most direct way to arrive at the correct answer to this question is to review the Hebrew word niddah from which put apart was translated. From the context it's possible that the separation of a menstruous woman from the congregation of the LORD could be referred to as tumah, but the following Scripture from Eze 36:17 raises serious questions about such an assumption: Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. (KJVA) Since the YLT translators didn't accept the KJV assertion that this as a reference to removed woman, and instead used the term separated one, we must question two prior assumptions:
